Building 19 and the Demise of the Big Box Store

On November 4, 2013 Building 19 filed for bankruptcy protection.  For those unfamiliar with the company, it bought distressed property (damaged or overstock) and sold them in warehouses.  During the last quarter of the twentieth century their business was booming.  Then as internet shopping took over, the large stores became liabilities as people could shop for the same thing online and companies could ship from low rent warehouses vs. high rent large box stores.  Apparently, Building 19 did not make the transition and is now a victim of not changing with the times!
